Bronchial Adenoma of the Trachea

Abstract

|
Tracheal adenoma is. a very rare disease never reported in Korea. We have recently experienced a case of tracheal adenoma.
The patient was a 57-year-old housewife who. had suffered from cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis and chest discomfort for one and a half years. During that time she was treated under the diagnosis of bronchial asthma without any improvement. We did indirect laryngoscopy and x-ray study of lateral view of the cervical spine and she was diagnosed as having a tracheal tumor which we surgically removed by external approach.
Pathologically, the tumor was found to be a cylindromatous type of tracheal adenoma. The literature concerning the case was reviewed in its clinical and histopathological aspects.
